Job summary

Athenaworks in Mexico is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Analytics & Reporting to lead the App team (6 engineers) and partner with product and design to deliver data-driven customer insights. You will own customer-facing data APIs, analytics product, and reporting, while modernizing backend with Kotlin, Kubernetes on AWS, and a focus on reliability and observability.

This is a hands-on leadership role with 20–30% coding, hiring, and shaping engineering culture in a fully remote distributed

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience on the JVM stack.
• 2+ years leading an engineering team with hiring and performance responsibilities.
• Experience with microservices in production on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills for customer reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the App team (6 engineers) and collaborate with PMs, Designer, UX Researcher.
• Own customer-facing data APIs and analytics reports.
• Migrate data pipelines from monolith to Data Engineering stack.
• Architectural reviews and 20–30% hands-on coding.
