Job summary

Echelon Risk + Cyber is seeking an experienced SOC Analyst, Consultant to join our MDR/SOC practice. You will own Tier 2/3 investigations, drive containment, and mature our detection content across SIEM and EDR platforms.

You will work across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments, handling end-to-end incident lifecycle, and mentoring analysts while engaging with clients in a remote Mexico-based role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, CS, or cybersecurity.
• Experience as Tier 2/3 SOC analyst and growing a SOC service.
• Proven incident response across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid.
• SIEM/EDR experience with queries in languages (CQL, SPL, KQL, YARA-L).
• Email security investigations (phishing, BEC) with Defender for Office 365, Proofpoint, Mimecast, Abnormal).

Responsibilities

• Own Tier 2 and Tier 3 investigations escalated from frontline triage, establishing scope and root cause.
• Perform hands-on endpoint investigation and response in MDR/EDR platforms, including artifact collection and host isolation.
• Investigate identity and cloud detections across M365, Entra ID, AD, AWS, Azure, including BEC and privilege escalation.
• Triage and investigate email security alerts, including phishing and policy remediations.
• Review vulnerability outputs, validate findings, and prioritize remediation by risk.
• Write, test, and tune detection content across SIEM/EDR to improve alert quality and reduce false positives.
• Build and maintain automation and SOAR playbooks to streamline triage.
• Conduct threat hunts using intelligence and MITRE ATT&CK mappings; translate to detections.
• Document incident lifecycle and produce clear reports for technical and executive audiences.
