The role emphasizes leadership, data analysis, dashboards, and governance for cost optimization across large-scale AWS environments, including reserved instances and savings plans.

• 5+ years of AWS cost optimization experience and leadership.

We are looking for a knowledgeable Lead Cloud Engineer with strong AWS expertise to join our team.As an AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Engineer, you will enhance transparency around cloud expenditures by building a metrics-driven strategy for alerting, reporting, and refining cloud costs. The ideal candidate brings practical experience in DevOps or SRE, substantial background in analyzing and optimizing costs within large-scale AWS environments, a strong interest in data analysis, and the ability to work well with colleagues throughout the organization.ResponsibilitiesWork alongside development and engineering groups to uncover optimization opportunities that boost ROI on cloud resources and enhance cost efficiencyDevelop a deep understanding of the client's product, its cloud architecture and deployment approach, and the costs tied to each part of the environmentGuide architects and engineers on resource optimization, minimizing waste, managing capacity, and shaping KPIsTrack cloud expenditures to catch cost spikes and unusual usage patterns, digging into what's driving themMonitor how cloud reservations and savings plans are being used, coordinating with teams to redirect available capacityExamine data trends and irregularities to produce insights that guide both strategic and day-to-day decisionsSpot potential savings tied to cloud commitment options (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Instances, Committed/Sustained Use) and keep tabs on their usageIdentify inefficient areas and craft practical optimization strategiesConstruct, refresh, and sustain dashboards, reports, and automated tools for tracking cost, usage, alerts, and forecastsSet up dashboards and automated reporting mechanisms to monitor adherence to cost targetsHelp establish, refine, automate, and oversee governance for cost optimization policies and best practicesCommunicate KPIs and propose savings opportunities to appropriate stakeholdersCoordinate with engineering teams to confirm that cost-saving measures are delivering resultsRequirementsAt least 5 years of professional experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, encompassing cost reporting and large-scale cost optimizationA minimum of one year in a leadership or team management capacityBackground working with AWS EKS and containerization toolsSkilled use of cost management and cloud platforms including AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Report, AWS Budgets, CloudHealth, AWS Managed Services, Amazon EC2, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes ServiceFamiliarity with GitHub, Jenkins, and Terraform for handling version control, automation, and infrastructure provisioningDemonstrated experience building cost optimization dashboards, models, and reports designed for engineering teams using cloud servicesKeen attention to detail paired with a genuine interest in converting raw data into meaningful insightsCapable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a teamStrong communication abilities, both spoken and written, suited for technical and non-technical audiences alikeGenuine curiosity about and openness to adopting new and emerging technologiesSolid written and verbal English skills at a B2 level or higherNice to haveFamiliarity with AWS Lambda for creating serverless applications and automating processes related to cost managementExperience using Amazon CloudWatch to monitor cloud resources and track key performance indicatorsUnderstanding of Amazon S3 for overseeing and evaluating storage costs and usage trendsBackground with Datadog for monitoring, generating alerts, and visualizing cloud infrastructure dataPractical skills in Python for writing scripts, automating processes, and creating custom tools to aid in cost analysis and reportingWe offerInternational projects with top brandsWork with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peersHealthcare benefitsEmployee financial programsPaid time off and sick leaveUpskilling, reskilling and certification coursesUnlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ coursesGlobal career opportunitiesVolunteer and community involvement opportunitiesEPAM Employee GroupsAward-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedInEPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
