Job summary

The Senior Automation Engineer at Tetra Pak is a senior technical reference who delivers advanced automation solutions and leads engineering excellence across projects. Based in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Mexico, you may travel up to 35% domestically and 15% internationally, guiding teams and mentoring others to ensure high‑quality engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience with industrial automation systems in processing environments.
• Strong PLC and HMI/SCADA programming experience (Rockwell/TP standard preferred).
• Experience with MES systems, databases and virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of ISA-S88 and ISA-S95 standards.
• Strong electrical design and troubleshooting skills including up to 600 VAC.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical reference for automation engineering team and provide guidance.
• Promote best practices, standardization and continuous improvement across projects.
• Develop and track project deliverables including design, installation, commissioning and life cycle tasks.
• Interface with account managers and customers to assess requirements and support solutions.
• Analyze, design, develop, implement and support automation solutions (PLC, HMI/SCADA, databases, cybersecurity).
• Configure control systems including PLCs, fieldbus networks and distributed I/O.
• Develop electrical schematics, control panel concepts and system architecture.
• Participate in design reviews and safety risk assessments.
• Lead and support installation, commissioning and performance testing.
• Troubleshoot complex automation and integration issues; mentor engineers.
• Conduct customer training and ensure system handover; ensure quality compliance.
