Job summary

Belcan in Querétaro, México, is seeking an FEA Lead Engineer for a full-time role with benefits. The candidate will lead multiple turbomachinery projects, applying FEM and advanced simulation tools to drive from concept to completion.

Job description

An FEA Lead Engineer position is currently available at Belcan in Querétaro, México. This job is a full-time position with benefits. Great matching candidates will have eight or more years’ engineering experience in the engineering field of Turbomachinery analysis with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. In this job, you will lead multiple projects with responsibility for moving evaluations from request to completion. The candidate will be required to communicate effectively with team members and management, utilizing verbal skills as well as written documents including plans, reports, and presentations.

Job Duties

• Provide technical leadership for more junior members of the engineering team
• Perform, review, and mentor activities that include knowledge of the following: mechanical analysis, gas turbine engine component design, hand calculations, engineering documentation composition, component durability assessment, and engine manufacturing / build and test
• Implement product definition criteria in accordance with requirements for commercial attributes associated with producibility/manufacturability of the component
• The Senior Engineer will oversee and mentor the design of components and systems for Turbomachinery technology which mainly includes hardware such as brackets, ducts, tubes, hoses and harnesses
• Manage and maintain projects in priority status as assigned by program management
• Maintain, report, and communicate project status and progress to both internal program management team and customer
• Monitor and report progress against project schedule by monitoring activities and resolving problems to ensure that customer Project Milestones are met
• Organize and maintain existing engineering records
• Perform other such duties as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• Eight or more years of engineering experience in the field of gas turbine engines or turbomachinery, specialty on Engine externals design and/or analysis
• Knowledge of Finite Element Method (FEM)
• Experience using structural simulation software, ANSYS classic, ANSYS Workbench, SimSolid, Optistruct
• Experience in any of the following: Specialty on Engine externals design/analysis, fans, compressors, compressor wheels, compressor blades, compressor vanes, combustors, turbine wheels, turbine blades, turbine vanes, cases/housings, gears and gearboxes or tooling
• Ability to write technical reports and correspondence including customer reports
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to coordinate and lead in a team environment
• Must be fluent in English and Spanish (conversational and written)

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Prior GE experience
• Experience using ANSYS classic and Workbench
• Experience with Team Center is desired
• Knowledge of other FEA software
