What Production Operation contributes to Cardinal Health

Manufacturing is responsible for cost of production and maintenance activities including process improvement, supply chain management, quality assurance, employee safety and engagement, and environmental commitment.

Production Operation operates light-duty bench- or floor-type machine tools and automation equipment. May set up machining machines and make adjustments, and perform maintenance on machines. Checks work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Job Summary

The Advisor, Production Operations plans and prepares the master production program to supply the sales demand plan, as well as meet organizational inventory goals. This job plans, schedules, and monitors the progress of the current product supply according to the program. The Advisor, Production Operations supervises the execution of the production program and interplant requirement plans and distribution centers and take actions as necessary to ensure compliance. This job supervises daily production activities (actual vs. planned production) and maintains priorities to expedite, as necessary, raw material availability, production in process, product release and / or movement of products towards product inventory finished. The Advisor, Production Operations follows for all standard operating procedures, assesses and recommends changes and improvements to procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews the worldwide demand for assigned product codes and the master production program in such a way that the finished product inventory stays on target and plans to support a level of service according to the objectives of the organization.
  • Serves as a first contact with manufacturing for planning issues.
  • Guides efforts to avoid delayed orders, communicating with Demand Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, and Purchasing to increase material supply when customer service is at risk.
  • Monitors the load capacity in the assigned production lines and forecasts future loads.
  • Determines the programming of new products and continuously updates the team of new products and demand planning when the production plan decreases.
  • Analyzes, identifies and prepares reports of obsolete or excess products/ materials and manages the phases of the products to ensure that the inventory is minimal.
  • Determines initial inventory requirements jointly with demand planning in terms of weeks of sale for the launch of a new product.


Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
