Job summary

Eaton’s IS AER ITD division seeks a Sr. Mold Process Engineer for the rotating shift to drive development, validation and innovation in molding. You will define and optimize mold and tooling processes, lead quality improvements and cost reductions while ensuring compliance with product specs.

Responsibilities include leading engineering changes, validating new molds, training operators and coordinating with cross-functional teams to improve cycle times and overall equipment effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in molding or related fields.
• Cost Out projects experience
• Solving Problem techniques (5 Why's, 8D's)
• Using statistical tools like Minitab
• Project management in engineering environments
• Scientific Molding (Master Molder 1)
• Solid Works, Mold design experience
• Molds (Cold runner & Hot runner, Valve gate, Cores)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with HPWT to achieve Hive Five Metrics.
• Define, develop and implement efficient molding processes.
• Improve efficiency and cycle time in molding.
• Lead value engineering, DOE, and RIE to improve cost and quality.
• Manage equipment installation and layout changes.
• Train and validate personnel in molding equipment use.
• Investigate machine and mold damage or production defects.
• Validate new molds and define process parameters.
• Plan operations sequences for tool development and enhancements.
• Conduct PPAP Level 3 process validation and statistical analysis.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Molding Process Engineer is responsible for the development, validation and innovation of new ideas, products, processes, materials and all the specific tools necessary for the molding industry in general, at an advanced engineering level. Defines and implements the functions of troubleshooting, assembly, modification, design and replacement of molds, dies and tooling; ensuring compliance with product and process specifications, maximizing efficiency in the use of resources and favorably impacting operating indicators such as: Quality, Service and Cost.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate and participate with HPWT (High Performance Work Teams) to achieve Hive Five Metrics
• Propose and implement actions to reduce the scrap in Molding Area
• Define, develop and implement efficient molding processes
• Improve efficiency and cycle time in Molding Processes
• Leads value engineering, DOE, and RIE events to improve part cost, quality, and performance.
• Implementation and management of equipment installation, layout changes and improvements
• Training and validation of the activities of technical and operational personnel in the use of molding equipment
• Investigation of machine and mold damage, customer complaints, or production defects
• Validation of new molds and defining process parameters
• Conditioning machines or equipment designed to improve production conditions
• Plans the sequences of operations and specifies the procedures for the development of tools or equipment and other functions that affect production
• Project management
• Establish strategies / parameters for the use of team capabilities
• Process Validation for engineering changes or new products (PPAP Level 3, Use of statistical tools (Minitab)
• Knowledge of plastics and engineering resins

Qualifications:

• +5 years of experience in similar positions
• Fluent in English/Spanish
