Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Ingeniero de Datos to join its Investigación y Desarrollo team in Zapopan, Jalisco. This hybrid role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure to enable advanced analytics and ML initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL and programming skills, and hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus expertise in data modeling and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or similar roles.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one major programming language (Python/Java/Scala).
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift/S3/Glue; Azure Data Factory/Synapse; GCP BigQuery/Dataflow).
• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data governance.
• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize robust ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Build and manage data warehouses and data lakes on cloud platforms.
• Implement data quality frameworks and ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs.
• Develop and maintain data models for analytics and reporting.
• Monitor pipeline performance and optimize for efficiency.
• Stay current with data engineering trends and technologies.
• Document data pipelines, models, and governance policies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers.
