JOB SUMMARY
Industrial Engineer SME II will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing integrated production and service delivery systems that ensure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control within the production site or region. The Industrial Engineer SME II will focus on profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project leader & supervisor for site or regional projects, implementing initiatives that eliminate waste through standard Industrial Engineering processes, including complex process simulation, operations research, and business model cost analysis.
- Evaluate large-scale challenges in workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of workers and equipment.
- Lead and evaluate cross-functional projects with in-depth knowledge of various functions outside of Industrial Engineering to optimize large-scale projects.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert in all global and regional IE systems, applications, and practices.
- Communicate key Industrial Engineering metrics to regional teams.
- Define and clarify standardization of SAP and Manufacturing Execution System configurations.
- Prepare complex quotes for new large-scale manufacturing projects, including line design, labor, equipment sizing, and infrastructure.
- Support and advise Business Unit Coordinators, Managers, and Site Management on process reliability, profitability, and project assumptions.
- Lead process improvement activities for New Product Introduction.
- Coach, mentor, and train engineers within the Industrial Engineering team and other functional teams as needed.
- Support and maintain all lower-level IE duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure standardization of processes throughout the site in accordance with global, regional, and site directives.
- Develop new IE best practices supported by data to optimize existing practices.
- Support the Lean organization by developing a solid process foundation and data integrity for process improvements.
- Comply with all company security procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Typically reports to management or leadership. The role does not involve direct management of other employees.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Broad understanding and application of industrial engineering tools (work measurement, simulation, process mapping, facilities design, operations research).
- Understanding of Jabil’s global strategies.
- Data Science skills preferred.
- Knowledge of site facilities and capabilities.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including P&L, planning, and delivery.
- Proven success in change management, continuous improvement, and cost reduction programs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety standards and Quality Systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Visio, Project, and AutoCAD.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- MS in Industrial Engineering or MBA preferred.
- Lean Masters Certificate or Six Sigma Silver preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of experience, with at least 7 years in industrial engineering or related fields, or equivalent education and training.
