Job Summary
The Industrial Engineer SME II will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing integrated production and service delivery systems that ensure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control within the production site or region. The goal is to enhance profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise site or regional projects to eliminate waste through standard Industrial Engineering processes, including complex process simulation, operations research, and business model cost analysis.
- Evaluate large-scale challenges related to workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data to optimize the utilization and effectiveness of workers and equipment.
- Lead and evaluate cross-functional projects to optimize large-scale initiatives with broad knowledge of various functions outside of Industrial Engineering.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert in all global and regional IE systems and applications, as well as IE practices.
- Communicate key Industrial Engineering metrics to regional teams.
- Define standardization for SAP and Manufacturing Execution System configurations.
- Prepare complex quotes for new large-scale manufacturing projects, including line design, labor, equipment sizing, and infrastructure.
- Support and advise Business Unit Coordinators, Managers, and Site Management on process reliability, profitability, and project assumptions.
- Lead process improvement activities for New Product Introduction.
- Coach, mentor, and train engineers within the Industrial Engineering team and other functional teams.
- Ensure standardization of Jabil processes across the site in line with global, regional, and site directions.
- Develop and support IE best practices with data to optimize existing practices.
- Support the Lean organization by developing a solid process foundation and ensuring data integrity for process improvements.
- Follow all company security procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities
This role typically reports to management or leadership (e.g., Sr. Manager, Director, VP). It does not involve direct management responsibilities such as hiring or performance management.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements
- Broad application of industrial engineering tools (e.g., work measurement, simulation, process mapping, facilities design, operations research).
- Understanding of Jabil’s strategies and global direction.
- Data science skills are preferred.
- Knowledge of site facilities and capabilities.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including P&L, planning, and delivery.
- Proven success in change management, continuous improvement, and cost reduction programs.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and quality systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Visio, Project, and AutoCAD.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- MS in Industrial Engineering or MBA preferred.
- Lean Masters Certificate or Six Sigma Silver preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of experience, including 7 years in industrial engineering or related fields.
