As an Area Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop your own team of Amazon Associates in a sort center environment. Your main focus will be motivating, mentoring and coaching your team. As a servant leader, the Area Manager will ensure that their team of Amazon Associates have all the tools needed to succeed for any task during a shift. Engaging with your team during a shift to ensure that the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance performance and engagement are maintained are core functions of the role. As IB / OB Area Manager or Delivery Shift Manager, you will be in charge of part of the operation of our work centers during an assigned shift. These operations involve the management of human, technological and physical resources to ensure the correct execution of the daily operation plan aligned with results.

Within these functions you will be mainly in charge of:

  • Continuous improvement pillar: Propose, plan and execute continuous improvement strategies that seek continuous operational efficiency.
  • Industrial Safety Pillar: During the shift, you are the main person in charge of safeguarding the well-being of the personnel under your charge, being directly or indirectly hired by the company.
  • Pilar Talent Management: Being a Manager at Amazon is a privilege and a responsibility, as a Manager, you will be focused on hiring and developing a workforce who will become the next Amazon leaders.
  • Operational Pillar: Review the operational forecast and determine productivity requirements for the operation.

This role is fully onsite and requires flexibility to work and rotate shifts: weekends, holidays, and/or overnight shifts, and Ability to work overtime both in peak season and as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • You will be part of the Amazon Operations Team, responsible of the day-to-day management of the site, overseeing the operation that focuses on the delivery of Amazon orders direct to customers.
  • Leading a direct/indirect team to ensure that you have a safe work place, properly trained people, and that their needs are addressed so they can focus on their jobs.
  • Support and assign job duties to process assistants.
  • Due to the nature of Amazon’s business, being able to adapt to sudden changes and growth according to operational necessities.
  • Communicate policies to Associates and act as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance, consistency, and taking corrective action when needed
  • Create, manage, and support recognition and communication programs
  • Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention
  • Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards
  • Develop performance goals and objectives to achieve customer demand and ensure accuracy and quality
Key job responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of 20 to 50 Amazon Associates
  • Communicate policies to Associates and act as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance, consistency, and taking corrective action when needed
  • Create, manage, and support recognition and communication programs
  • Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all Associates
  • Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention

  • Develop performance goals and objectives to achieve customer demand and ensure accuracy and quality
Job Elements

Must be able to perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
  • Walk in/and around the warehouse with great frequency; many facilities are over a quarter mile in length
  • Access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation)
  • Regularly bend, lift, stretch and reach both below the waist and above the head
  • Lift and move items up to 49 pounds
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of employee and performance management experience

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Can push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
