Job summary

APM Terminals is seeking a Project HSSE Manager for the Lázaro Cárdenas extension. You will lead HSSE for a major infrastructure upgrade, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate standards while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The role demands extensive experience in safety, security, and environmental management within construction or asset delivery projects, and strong leadership in an international environment. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

Responsibilities

• Define the project’s HSSE vision, strategy, goals and objectives, and implement the HSSE management plan in alignment with the APM Terminals framework and Mexican regulations.
• Identify, assess and manage HSSE risks while supporting risk reviews, KPI reporting, audits, inspections, safety tours and assurance activities.
• Foster a proactive HSSE culture by implementing the APM Terminals Fatal 5 Program, encouraging open dialog and understanding the conditions that influence safe work.
• Lead incident management processes, including transparent reporting, learning-focused reviews, high-potential incident investigations and knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and crisis communication protocols with terminal operations, contractors, suppliers and external authorities.
• Embed HSSE requirements within contracts and procurement processes, monitor contractor compliance and ensure corrective actions are tracked and completed.
• Coordinate interfaces and high-risk activities through planning and permit-to-work processes, maintaining an active presence during challenging operations.
