Formación

This position reports to

Operations Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in your assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Each day, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain. The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite. This role is contributing to the Process Automation business in Merida.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Your focus will be on implementing policies, standards, programs, and practices within your assigned area of responsibility considering behavioral change and HSE learning within the organization, embedding an exemplary health and safety culture with a strong focus on the environment.
  2. Supporting line managers and supervisors in understanding their HSE obligations, liabilities, and requirements according to local laws and ABB management standards.
  3. Ensuring appropriate tools and measures are in place and used effectively, while also overseeing HSE risk assessments and implementing necessary preventive measures against identified hazards.
  4. Supporting Canadian Business Lines employees with any HSE requirements.
  5. Ensuring that HSE capabilities are optimized and aligned with established standards, processes, guidelines, and best practices, and driving continuous improvement in HSE-related learning across the organization.
  6. Reporting HSE incidents to the management and relevant stakeholders and taking appropriate actions.
  7. Facilitating, assisting, and providing guidance on incident investigations to learn better ways for mitigating risks. Providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their Business Lines and across ABB.
  8. Contributing to and/or planning and executing HSE-related projects.
  9. Reporting on HSE performance and progress in relation to group-level HSE objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  10. Ensuring safety measures are properly implemented on-site during regular site visits.
  11. Conducting and updating risk assessments for health and safety.
  12. Providing regular HSE training sessions to employees and our subcontractors.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, environment or other relevant education.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience.
  • Prior experience supporting Health, Safety and Environment or working in an HSE role.
  • Knowledge of HSE standards - ISO14000 - ISO4500.
  • Experience with data analytics, stat reporting, and Excel data management.
  • Experience with HSE management systems, training and campaigns.
  • Experience with use of 3rd party database management systems (Cognibox, Avetta, ISNetWorld, ComplyWorks, etc).
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach.
  • Advanced level of English (required) and French (desirable) - strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Travel up to 10% required.
  • You hold current Visa valid.
