Cummins Inc. in Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, is seeking a Heat Treatment Manufacturing Engineer Senior to lead heat treatment operations, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement in a 24/7 on-site setting.

You will oversee furnaces, implement capital projects, and ensure CQI-9 and quality standards compliance. The role requires a STEM bachelor’s degree and strong leadership, with ~3+ years in heat treatment and a proven track record in process optimization and problem

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline is required.
• Experience in heat treatment operations and continuous/batch furnaces.
• Strong knowledge of carburizing, quenching, tempering and annealing.
• Experience with quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans and Root Cause Analysis.
• Familiarity with CQI-9 and metallurgical inspection processes.

Responsabilidades

Position Summary

Cummins is seeking a : Heat Treatment Manufacturing Engineer Senior to lead manufacturing engineering activities related to heat treatment operations, process optimization, equipment implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing engineering projects from planning through implementation.
• Develop, optimize, and standardize heat treatment manufacturing processes.
• Oversee operation and performance of continuous and batch furnaces.
• Ensure compliance with CQI-9 and applicable quality standards.
• Drive process improvements related to carburizing, quenching, tempering, and annealing.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Manage capital projects, equipment acquisition, installation, and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Coordinate activities with suppliers, technical centers, and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure compliance with Cummins safety, ergonomic, and manufacturing standards.
• Support audit activities, customer requirements, and certification processes.
• Lead operational and engineering teams within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Required Technical Qualifications

Heat Treatment Processes

• Minimum 3 years of experience in heat treatment operations.
• Experience with:
• Continuous furnaces.
• Batch furnaces.
• Automotive heat treatment processes.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Carburizing.
• Quenching.
• Tempering.
• Annealing.
• Pyrometry experience.
• Metallography interpretation and analysis.
• Metallurgical inspection knowledge.

Quality & Core Tools

• Experience with:
• PFMEA.
• Control Plans.
• Root Cause Analysis.
• Problem-solving methodologies:
• 8D.
• 5 Why's.
• Ishikawa Diagrams.
• Pareto Analysis.
• CQI-9 knowledge and application.

Manufacturing Engineering

• Manufacturing process design and optimization.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline, including:

• Industrial Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electromechanical Engineering
• Mechatronics Engineering
• Manufacturing Engineering
• Electronic Engineering
• Or related disciplines

Language Requirements

Intermediate English or higher.

Must be comfortable interacting with:

• U.S.-based suppliers.
• Cross-functional global teams.
• Cummins Technology Center in Michigan.

Additional Requirements

• Approximately 10% travel availability.
• Occasional travel to the United States (primarily Michigan).
• Ability to visit suppliers and equipment manufacturers as needed.
• Personal vehicle required due to limited public transportation access to the facility.
