Cummins Inc. in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico seeks a Manufacturing Engineer Junior for a 12-month contract to support planning, design, procurement, and implementation of manufacturing equipment, processes, and systems, ensuring safety, quality and productivity.

You will collaborate with internal and external teams on improvements, participate in projects, develop process documentation, and apply SPC and quality tools to drive data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation processes, including FMEA, Control Plans, and process documentation.
  • Minimum intermediate conversational English proficiency to collaborate in a global environment.

We are looking for a talented MANUFACTURING ENGINEER JUNIOR (12-MONTH CONTRACT) to join our MANUFACTURING team at our global company, located in CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA, MÉXICO.

Location: Blvd. Juan Pablo II 1951, Cdad. Rio Bravo, C . Río Bravo, 32550 Juárez, Chih.

Work Modality: 100% On-site

Job Summary:

Contributes to the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of changes to manufacturing equipment, processes, and systems, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, productivity, and business requirements.

Participates in manufacturing and continuous improvement projects, collaborating with internal and external teams to develop and implement solutions that optimize processes, equipment, and work methods.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
1. Manufacturing and Process Engineering
  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, productivity, and product requirements.
  • Apply manufacturing engineering principles and practices to improve equipment, processes, and work methods.
  • Participate in the implementation and improvement of manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of work methods, procedures, and manufacturing standards.
  • Analyze processes, equipment, and performance using digital tools and engineering methodologies to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives to reduce costs and improve process quality and efficiency.
2. Projects and Implementation
  • Participate in projects involving the implementation or modification of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Support project planning, execution, and follow-up, including activities, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Track project progress and communicate status updates to management and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Identify risks, issues, and deviations during implementation and collaborate with relevant teams to develop solutions.
  • Support budget tracking, purchase orders, and activities related to the procurement of equipment, materials, and services.
  • Participate in the selection and procurement of manufacturing equipment that meets Cummins specifications and project requirements.
3. Quality, Documentation, and Standardization
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation, procedures, and work instructions in the appropriate sequence to ensure process standardization and continuity.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, including FMEAs, Control Plans, and process documentation.
  • Apply quality tools and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to monitor and improve process performance.
  • Ensure implemented changes comply with product specifications and applicable manufacturing standards.
  • Maintain accurate project and process documentation and share lessons learned and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
4. Equipment, Tooling, and Workstation Design
  • Interpret and integrate product design drawings and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to support the development of optimized processes.
  • Participate in the design and selection of fixtures and tooling required to properly secure parts and products during the manufacturing process.
  • Apply Cummins ergonomic design guidelines to reduce risks and develop safe and ergonomic workspaces.
  • Contribute to the development of efficient processes and workstations that support productivity and operator well-being.
5. Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and equipment through continuous improvement and waste reduction methodologies.
  • Solve problems using systematic analysis methodologies and quality tools to identify assignable causes and root causes.
  • Implement robust, data-driven solutions to prevent recurrence of issues and protect the customer.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
6. Safety and Collaboration
  • Comply with and promote safety procedures and standards during project implementation and daily activities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Procurement, suppliers, and other functional teams.
  • Communicate technical information and project progress clearly to different levels and audiences.
  • Collaborate with global teams and external resources in a multicultural environment.
  • Share knowledge and lessons learned that contribute to team development and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering position or related engineering role.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation processes, including FMEA, Control Plans, and process documentation .
  • Experience managing and tracking purchase orders and activities related to procurement processes.
  • Minimum intermediate conversational English proficiency is required to effectively collaborate in a global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing machinery and manufacturing processes using project management strategies.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) .
  • Experience with project management tools, preferably Microsoft Project or similar .
  • Experience or knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts, including MES and IoT , is preferred.
