Cognizant in Mexico is seeking an experienced Hardware Management Systems Administrator to plan, configure, implement, and support IBM Z hardware infrastructure. The role leads hardware refresh, migrations, and LPAR management in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

Hybrid role in Guadalajara or Mexico City requiring advanced English. Responsibilities include managing IODFs, HCD/HCM, channel paths, and interop with IBM vendors to ensure reliable enterprise infrastructure.

Formación

• Experience with IBM Z hardware platforms including z16 and z17.
• Strong knowledge of HCD/HCM administration.
• Experience with IODF generation and management.
• Familiarity with IO subsystem configuration and channel path management.
• Proficient in LPAR activation and migration planning.

Responsabilidades

• Administer IBM Z hardware platforms including z16, z17 and future generations.
• Manage hardware lifecycle: installation, upgrades, maintenance, decommissioning.
• Support day-to-day hardware administration in production and DR environments.
• Coordinate hardware maintenance with IBM and third-party vendors.
• Lead hardware upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives.
• Develop upgrade strategies and rollback procedures.
• Configure and test hardware installation and production cutover.

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Management Systems Administrator responsible for the planning, configuration, implementation, and support of IBM Z hardware infrastructure. The individual will lead hardware refresh and migration initiatives, including z16 to z17 upgrades, processor activations, I/O configuration management, LPAR administration, and enterprise infrastructure transformation projects.
The role requires extensive knowledge of IBM Z server architecture, I/O subsystem design, HCD/HCM administration.

Core Responsibilities

• Administer IBM Z hardware platforms including z16, z17 and future IBM Z generations.
• Manage hardware lifecycle activities including installation, upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Support day-to-day hardware administration activities across production and disaster recovery environments.
• Coordinate hardware maintenance activities with IBM and third-party vendors.
• Hardware Upgrade and Refresh Management
• Lead hardware migration projects including z16 to z17 upgrades and technology refresh initiatives.
• Develop upgrade strategies, migration plans, implementation procedures, and rollback plans.
• Coordinate hardware installation, configuration, testing, and production cutover activities.
• HCD / HCM Administration. Develop and maintain Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) environments.
• Administer Hardware Configuration Manager (HCM) repositories and configuration models.
• Create, modify, validate, and maintain hardware configuration definitions.
• Ensure consistency between logical and physical hardware configurations.
• IODF Generation and Management
• Experience create and maintain IODFs supporting multiple environments. Configure and Validate Processor Definition,
• Channel paths, Control units, DASD subsystems, Tape subsystems, Network devices, FICON infrastructure.
• Support dynamic and planned I/O reconfigurations.
• Manage FICON channel infrastructure and path definitions.
• Configure channel path redundancy and resiliency.
• Analyze and resolve hardware connectivity issues.
• Support SAN and storage integration projects.
• Define, configure, and maintain Logical Partitions (LPARs).Perform LPAR activation and configuration changes.
• Manage processor allocations including: CPs, zIIPs, IFLs, Specialty engines
• Datacenter Migration Support
