We are seeking a Global Trade Compliance Manager responsible for ensuring that all international trade activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role oversees compliance with U.S. and foreign trade regulations, while developing strategies to mitigate risk and enhance efficiency across global trade operations. The manager also acts as a subject matter expert on trade laws, sanctions, tariffs, and classifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain global trade compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws and regulations, including but not limited to US PGAs, CTPAT, OEA, EAR, OFAC, and global customs requirements.
- Oversee trade compliance processes globally, ensuring documentation, classification (HTS, ECCN), valuation, and licensing requirements are met.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, advising internal teams on impacts and required adjustments.
- Conduct internal audits and risk assessments related to trade compliance.
- Manage denied party screenings, embargo checks, and end-use verification protocols.
- Collaborate with import/export, logistics, procurement, legal, and finance teams to ensure compliant practices throughout the supply chain.
- Deliver training and guidance to teams on global trade compliance.
- Serve as point of contact with government agencies and external counsel when necessary.
- Lead and support investigations and disclosures related to trade compliance issues.
- Manage a team of specialists handling compliance inquiries and processes.
- Develop compliance reports and KPIs to measure program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, trade law, supply chain, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing international trade compliance, ideally in a multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and global trade regulations (e.g., FTC, EAR, Customs, OFAC).
- Proficiency with trade compliance software (e.g., Oracle GTM, Annex 24 systems, Descartes).
- Deep understanding of HTS codes and hands-on experience with HTS classification.
- Familiarity with rules of origin and their application.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global setting.
- Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) are a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
