The successful candidate will be a member of Ciena’s Global Commodity Management team and responsible for managing the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) portfolio. The candidate shall be responsible for analyzing PCB market trends, developing commodity strategies, negotiating supplier pricing & business terms, developing supply assurance programs, managing suppliers, and serving as Ciena’s subject matter expert for all business-related activities associated with the commodity.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Develop and implement commodity strategies that ensure the utilization of best-in-class products & suppliers based on Technology, Quality, Supply & Cost.
  • Monitor commodity market trends such as new technology developments, product costs, global supply conditions, and competitive supplier landscape to develop strategies that leverage market trends.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement commodity strategies that achieve Ciena’s overall objectives.
  • Serve as lead negotiator to optimize Ciena’s total cost of ownership for the commodity over the product lifecycle.
  • Monitor capacity readiness with suppliers for new and sustaining products to ensure time to market expectations & revenue/customer commitments are achieved.
  • Resolve critical supply shortages by actively working with suppliers and EMS partners.
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks associated with Ciena’s suppliers and ensure supply availability for PCB products.
  • Define & implement strategies that minimize Ciena’s supply chain risks and ensure continuity of supply for optical components.
  • Collaborate with R&D to successfully onboard new products & technologies that align with commodity strategy.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and their management to ensure best-in-class support to Ciena.
  • Lead recurring business reviews with key suppliers to ensure congruence between Ciena’s goals and suppliers’ actions.
  • Support internal stakeholders with the negotiation of legal agreements that enable Ciena’s business requirements with suppliers.

The Must Haves:

  • Knowledge of PCB industry, suppliers, market trends, and technologies is desirable.
  • Understanding of different PCB technologies such as multi-layer, high density interconnect, high frequency, and Silicon Like PCBs is desirable.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing processes is desirable.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams which include R&D, PLM, and Quality for key commodity initiatives.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence and foster strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Confidently works well under pressure with strong time management disciplines.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Engineering and/or Business Degree.
  • 5 years or more of experience in procurement of PCBs or similar commodities.
  • 5 to 10 years of general Procurement experience.

Pay Range: The annual pay range for this position is $93,900 - $149,900 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
