Kohler Sanimex Plant in Juárez, NL is seeking a Slip & Glaze General Supervisor to oversee Laboratory, Slip and Glaze operations, ensuring equipment and personnel meet production schedules within budget, and driving productivity and quality improvements.

You will lead supervisors, coordinate with training, safety, and maintenance, manage budgets, and develop procedures to optimize processes while maintaining ISO and Six Sigma standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two to four years of manufacturing/industrial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Ceramic Engineering and kiln operation; ISO and Six Sigma beneficial.
• English proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Windows-based software applications preferred.

Responsabilités

• Direct processing operations for Slip and Glaze to meet acceptance standards and specifications.
• Monitor performance vs budgets, schedules, and supply requirements; recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain close contact with supervision to address defective ware.
• Supervise subordinate staff and ensure clear duties are communicated.
• Assist in formulation of department objectives aligned with plant goals.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting for materials and labor.
• Develop training procedures with the training area to ensure proper job execution.
• Ensure safety and health matters are communicated and addressed promptly.
• Recommend hiring, promotion, or changes in compensation for subordinates.
• Approve department requisitions for equipment, supplies or services.
• Regularly communicate with Superintendent and HR about labor conditions.
• Work with materials personnel to source local raw materials and supplies to maximize local content.

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Superintendent Pottery, Plant I, this position is responsible for supervising the Laboratory, Slip and Glaze operations. Responsible for proper utilization of equipment and personnel to meet established production schedules within budget cost, developing and recommending activities to improve productivity, quality or processing methods.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct the processing operations for Slip and Glaze to meet established acceptance standards and engineering specifications and in accordance with planned production schedules.
• Continuously monitor and analyze the performance of the production units as compared to departmental objectives, cost standards, labor and expense budgets and supply requirements; and as needed, take corrective action or recommend activities to improve results in these areas.
• Maintains close contact with other production supervision to effect corrective measures on defective ware.
• Direct the activities of subordinate supervisory personnel and ensure that their duties and responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated to them.
• Assist in formulation of department operating objectives that support plant and division objectives.
• Participate in development of budgets and forecasts of material and labor requirements and other operating plans and forecasts.
• In conjunction with the training area, develop training procedures to ensure that associates fulfill their job assignments.
• Through meetings with subordinates, assure safety and health matters are communicated and prompt corrective action taken when needed.
• Recommend to the Superintendent, the employment, promotion, dismissal or change in compensation of immediate subordinates.
• Approve department requisitions for equipment, supplies, services or other expenditures.
• Communicate regularly with the superintendent and HR personnel about the overall status of labor conditions in his area of responsibility.
• Work with the materials personnel to identify and develop local sources of raw materials and supplies to maximize local content.
• Comply with the Health and Safety Roles and Responsibilities established for this position.

Supervisory Relationships:

• Reports to Superintendent Pottery Plant I
• Supervises directly Ceramic Engineers, Foremen, Sr. Technician and Laboratory Technician.
• Indirectly supervises hourly workers

Organization Relationships:

• Frequent contact with other members of supervision concerning schedules, work flow, quality and other matters relating to plant operations.
• Frequent contact with Personnel and security in matters related to employee relation, safety, health and training.
• Frequent contact with foremen maintenance concerning maintenance of equipment and general services for his department.
• Occasional contact with other departments in Brownwood, Wisconsin and Spartanburg.

External Business Relationship:

• Frequent contact with vendors of equipment and supplies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Preference Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE:

• Preference two to four years work experience in manufacturing/industrial environment.

FORMATION:

• Preference knowledge of Ceramic Engineering and kiln operation. Knowledge in ISO and Six Sigma preferred. Preferred English and Preference Knowledge of Microsoft Windows based software applications.
