Job summary

Bluelight, a leading software consultancy, is seeking a senior backend developer to join its rapidly growing team. You will focus on backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript, building low-latency AWS-based services and scalable RESTful APIs.

You will work in a collaborative environment with strong emphasis on ownership, client satisfaction, and continuous learning, overlapping US business hours when needed, and contributing to full-stack tasks as required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
• Bachelor's degree required
