Job summary

Bluelight is seeking a senior backend-focused software engineer to join its growing team. You will work on challenging, high-quality applications, leveraging Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS to deliver low-latency APIs and scalable services.

This role requires strong database skills with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, a multi-tenant mindset, and a commitment to ownership, testing, and collaboration across international teams and US business hours.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Proficient with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency AWS API services and scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security.
• Experience with multi-tenant environments and SQL/schema migrations.
• Proficient with React and strong testing practices.
• Ability to overlap US business hours and Bachelor's degree required.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
