Bluelight is a leading software consultancy expanding across the United States and the Americas. We are seeking a senior backend developer to design, implement, and optimize scalable, low-latency API services on AWS.

You will work with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and bring strong testing practices to a dynamic, remote-enabled team. You will collaborate with frontend developers and AI coding assistants, participate in architecture discussions, and own deliverables with a focus on security,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience with PostgreSQL, including row-level security (RLS) and multi-tenant design
• Proven testing practices, including integration tests against real databases
• Comfortable with SQL and schema migrations
• Experience with React and front-end work when needed

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
