You will provide expert technical support and guidance throughout the FPGA design process, helping customers optimize their designs. We are seeking a skilled, customer-obsessed FPGA Applications Engineer to join our world-class team in Guadalajara, Mexico's technology hub. In this role, you will be a trusted technical advisor to our customers, providing expert guidance on the complete FPGA design journey using Quartus Prime. Your mission is to solve complex technical challenges, enabling customers to bring innovative products to market efficiently and successfully.
Technical Support & Debugging
Provide timely and accurate technical support to resolve customer issues related to the Quartus Prime software, FPGA/SoC architecture, and IP integration.
Systematically debug customer designs by analyzing HDL code (VHDL/Verilog), timing reports, and tool configurations to identify root causes.
Utilize in-system debugging tools such as Signal Tap Logic Analyzer for hardware troubleshooting.
Design Guidance & Optimization
Guide customers on design best practices to achieve performance, area, and power goals, with emphasis on timing closure using Timing Analyzer.
Advice on efficient power estimation and optimization strategies using Quartus Power Analyzer.
Platform Designer & IP Integration
Support customers in creating complex SoCs with Platform Designer (formerly Qsys), integrating Altera IP cores, processors, and peripherals.
Assist in integrating high-speed protocols (PCIe, Ethernet) and memory controllers (DDR4/5).
Content Development & Training
Develop and deliver technical content, including application notes, design examples, and tutorials that demonstrate the power and capabilities of Altera FPGAs and software tools.
Customer Advocacy
Act as the voice of the customer, collaborating with R&D and marketing to influence product and tool enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor0s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in digital logic design using FPGAs or ASICs.
Strong proficiency in VHDL or Verilog for writing efficient, synthesizable code.
Hands-on experience with Quartus Prime Design tools such as Timing Analyzer, Platform Designer, Signal Tap, System Console, Design Space Explorer II, Power Analyzer, Fitter (Place and Route), Logic Lock Regions, Interface Planner, Chip Planner, and Questa-Intel FPGA Edition Software* for robust and optimized designs.
Solid understanding of the complete FPGA design flow, including RTL synthesis, place-and-route, and static timing analysis.
Advanced proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor0s or Master0s degree in a relevant FPGA-related technical discipline.
Previous experience in a customer-facing role such as Applications Engineer or Field Applications Engineer (FAE).
Experience with SoC FPGA designs involving embedded processors (ARM or Nios II).
Familiarity with high-speed serial protocols (PCIe, Ethernet) and memory interfaces (DDR4/5) is a plus.
Proficiency in scripting languages (Tcl, Python, Perl) to automate design flows and analysis.
Experience with simulation and verification tools such as ModelSim or QuestaSim.
