Job description

When an entire city needs to be rendered into a 3D model in-flight, utilities buried deep under soil need to be uncovered, highly complex infrastructure projects need to be implemented and even when crime scene investigation needs to be documented – that’s Leica Geosystems, A Hexagon Company. More than 5,000 employees in 33 countries help us develop the latest technologies for Reality Capture, survey and measurement.

As Finance Controller in Mexico City, you will own financial control, accounting oversight, planning and reporting for Leica Geosystems in Mexico, reporting to the Head of Finance LATAM. You will make sure local numbers are accurate, controls are effective, and Mexican fiscal obligations and Hexagon Group policies are met, while acting as a trusted finance partner to the business. This is a hybrid position with 3 days required in the Mexico City office.

Financial close and reporting
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes performed in coordination with GBS America, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timely delivery. Review and challenge balance-sheet reconciliations, aged reconciling items, suspense accounts, long-outstanding balances, accruals, provisions and financial statements; follow up corrective actions and elevate material unresolved items to the Head of Finance LATAM.
  • Oversee accounting under Mexican NIF and reconcile adjustments to Group IFRS requirements.
  • Act as the principal local finance interface with GBS America (transactional accounting such as AP, AR and GL), ensuring that service quality, unresolved items, process ownership and recurring accounting or operational issues are monitored, addressed and escalated to the Head of Finance LATAM where material.
Planning and business partnering
  • Manage the annual budget, forecasts, cash flow, working capital and fixed assets.
  • Provide local financial oversight of accounts receivable, collections, cash application and customer disputes. Monitor overdue balances, credit exposure, bad-debt provisions and order-release exceptions, coordinating corrective actions with GBS America and the commercial organization.
  • Oversee inventory controls, including stock reconciliations, physical counts, slow-moving and obsolete inventory, demo and rental equipment, returns, write-offs and compliance with approval policies.
  • Analyze variances, pricing, margins, commissions, and project and service profitability by business line or cost center; present clear recommendations to leadership.
Tax and statutory compliance
  • Coordinate with local advisers and GBS America to ensure compliance with Mexican tax, statutory and regulatory requirements, including the review of relevant filings and supporting documentation.
  • Supervise CFDI issuance and receipt (including payroll CFDI and payment complements) and SAT electronic accounting in accordance with applicable Mexican tax regulations and the current Resolución Miscelánea Fiscal.
  • Coordinate with People & Culture on payroll accounting and employer compliance: IMSS, INFONAVIT, SAR, state payroll taxes and PTU where applicable.
  • Oversee the financial control framework for payroll, employee expenses, corporate cards, travel and entertainment, and sensitive local vendors, including the review of unusual or non-compliant transactions.
Controls, treasury and risk
  • Oversee intercompany accounting, transfer-pricing documentation (with tax specialists), treasury and banking, and import/export-related accounting.
  • Strengthen internal controls and fraud-prevention practices; coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Escalate material fiscal, regulatory, labor-related financial or control exposures to regional leadership.
Autonomy
  • You are accountable for the oversight of local close quality, forecast accuracy and control follow-up within approved policies, and authorize transactions only within formally delegated limits.
  • Maintain clear accountability between the Mexico organization, GBS America and regional finance, ensuring that process gaps do not result in unowned activities or unresolved financial exposures.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting (Contaduría Pública), Finance or a related field; professional qualification or registration where required for regulated attestations.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial controlling, corporate accounting or finance in Mexico, preferably in an international organization.
  • Sound understanding of Mexican accounting, tax and statutory requirements, with the ability to coordinate effectively with GBS America and local specialist advisers.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with SAP, specifically the FI/CO modules.
  • Experience working in or with a shared services or global business services (GBS) environment, including oversight of outsourced transactional accounting.
  • Professional Spanish and working English.
  • Career start in audit or advisory at a Big 4 or similarly reputable firm, followed by a corporate role in a multinational.
  • Experience reporting to a regional or global HQ and working within Group governance and reporting cadence.
  • Experience with consolidation tools such as OneStream.
  • Exposure to mixed commercial models (direct sales and distributors).
