Job summary

S&P Global, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Financial Accountant in Mexico City to support the finance team, preparing journal entries, invoices, and tax filings in accordance with NIF and US GAAP. You will collaborate on tax responses and audits while maintaining Oracle Financials proficiency.

The role requires 2+ years in financial accounting, strong Excel skills, and fluency in English and Spanish. A proactive, detail-oriented mindset will help ensure compliance and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in US GAAP and MEX GAAP.
• Minimum of 2+ years of work experience in Financial Accounting with a focus on general accounting and tax matters.
• Mid-level accounting skills and basic knowledge of financial reporting.
• Advance written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Proven investigative research and analytical capabilities, with a strong attention to detail.
• Mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel (including macros).
• Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with Mexican accounting standards (NIF) and US GAAP.
• Prepare, review, and ensure compliance of invoices and their electronic payment receipts according to Mexican Tax Laws.
• Serve as support for both customer and internal inquiries, providing follow-up on accounting matters.
• Collaborate on preparing responses to tax authorities’ invitations.
• Prepare tax reports and files to support tax refunds.
• Electronic accounting filing.
• Retrieving Compliance Letters from local authorities (SAT, INFONAVIT and IMSS).
• Support Finance senior accountant to prepare working papers for Annual Income Tax returns.
• Follow- up with insurance companies to retrieve warranties and finalize administrative processes.
• Support statutory audits, ensuring necessary documentation is prepared and available.
• Audit travel expense reports in compliance with Mexican tax laws.
• Prepare meaningful accounting reports that provide insights into financial performance and assist in decision-making.
• Utilize mid-level Excel tools, pivot tables and formulas, to streamline processes.
• Maintain and enhance knowledge of Oracle Financials and other relevant accounting systems.
• Perform other related tasks as required.
