Sulzer is seeking a Field Superintendent to lead tower field services in Mexico. You will oversee the installation of mass transfer equipment and ASME code pressure vessel repairs, while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and project budget across the full lifecycle from sales through billing.

You will supervise crews, coordinate with Project Management, Safety, Quality, Sales and Estimating, and interact with client contacts.

Formación

• 7-10 years of experience in tower field services related work.
• 3-5 years in supervisory positions in related fields.
• Fluency in English; strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass background checks, training, and safety requirements for entry into refineries and industrial facilities.

SUMMARY:

The superintendent is the primary point of contact for customers in the field and oversees the installation of mass transfer equipment and any ASME code pressure vessel repairs. Project execution achieving expectations and aiming for continuous improvement in safety, quality, schedule and project budget are critical to the success of the entire organization. Successful employees in this role are involved in the entire project lifecycle from sales and estimating, through planning and execution, and completing with customer billing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work safely or not at all. Forms and policies do no keep people safe. Field Leadership must be present in work areas and actively supervising in order to mitigate risk. Leaders protect their employees through the identification of existing and potential hazards, coaching, and collaborating to establish process controls and hazard elimination/reduction measures. Utilize JSAs and safety meetings to set and reinforce safety expectations with crews and individual employees
• Responsible for working with Project Management, Safety, Quality, Sales and Estimating to fully understand the scope, schedule, budget and other requirements as well as the resources allocated for assigned projects. Pre-job meetings, safety kick off meetings, and planning trips may be required
• Interface with client contacts including maintenance, safety, planners, schedulers and others as needed
• Ensures quality of work being performed by employees meets all customer and industry standards
• Manages project expense budgets and works with Project Management and support staff to propose and implement cost savings strategies.
• Creates workplans, sets productivity targets for subordinate leaders and crews and tracks progress to meet or exceed estimated project schedules
• Actively work to find solutions to customer issues pertaining to Sulzer’s defined scope, additional work within Sulzer’s capabilities, methods to execute work more safely, more efficiently or producing higher quality standards than originally specified. Document changes and approvals needed.
• Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all project related documentation including safety and quality forms, payroll timesheets, customer timesheets, expense reports, procurement requests, packing slips for deliveries, and field change orders including scope changes.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

• Assist in the coordination and logistics of necessary resources including employees, tools, equipment, consumables and PPE. Work with support functions to ensure the needed resources are acquired.
• Work closely with, and monitor/manager sub-contractors as necessary
• Contribute to the development of sales opportunities for equipment and service, bid reviews and project performance reviews as needed
• Development of field employees to improve capabilities of crews and Sulzer Tower Field Service

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the overall supervision of assigned project personnel

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7-10 years of experience in tower field services related work
• 3-5 years in supervisory positions in related fields
• Ability to pass background checks, customer specific training, drug screens and other requirements for entry into refineries, petrochemical and industrial facilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic industrial/manufacturing engineering techniques, especially as required in the installation and retro-fit of equipment
• Analytical capability and resourcefulness as required in developing and implementing appropriate solutions to qualify or other installation-related problems
• Leadership and managerial capability, as required in leading and evaluating installation workers or sub-contractors at assign installations
• Flexibility and open-mindedness, as required to communicate with aspects of the business
• Orientation toward teamwork, as required to partner with customers, Sulzer support functions, equipment contacts and management effectively to resolve issues and deliver solutions that benefit both external and internal customers
• Oral communication skills, as required in interactive effectively with all levels of personnel and delivering professional presentations to groups. Diplomacy is critical to the continued success of the organization. Fluency is required in English
• Written communication skills, as required in preparing concise, understandable business reports
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers including Word, Excel and Outlook

TRAVEL:

This position requires frequent business travel and could include international travel
