Farmers Insurance in Mexico City is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join the STEM program. You will partner with Software Engineering, DevOps, and Cybersecurity to integrate security across the software development lifecycle and drive remediation.

The role requires 4–6 years IT with experience in application security, testing, and secure coding. Fluent English is required, and you will influence secure development practices across teams.

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Application Security Engineer is a key member of the Application & Infrastructure Security team supporting the Secure Technology & Exposure Management (STEM) program. This role partners closely with Software Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, and Cybersecurity teams to integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle, identify and assess application risks, conduct security testing, and drive remediation efforts. The ideal candidate combines strong application security expertise with a collaborative approach to influence secure development practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and communicate application security risks and recommend remediation strategies.
• Perform application security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and risk analyses for web applications, APIs, and modern application architectures.
• Support secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) initiatives and DevSecOps practices.
• Partner with development teams to embed security controls into engineering processes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct security testing activities, including static, dynamic, and manual application assessments.
• Review application architectures and provide security guidance during design and development phases.
• Track identified vulnerabilities and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely remediation.
• Participate in threat modeling exercises and security architecture reviews.
• Develop and maintain application security standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Support regulatory, audit, and compliance activities related to application security.
• Provide security awareness training and guidance to engineering and development teams.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for application security and secure coding practices.

Required Qualifications

• 4-6 years of overall IT experience, with at least 1-3 years focused on Application Security.
• Experience performing application vulnerability assessments and security testing.
• Knowledge of secure software development principles and secure coding practices.
• Understanding of modern application and API architectures.
• Experience working within DevSecOps and CI/CD environments.
• Ability to communicate security risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7-9 years of overall IT experience.
• 4-6 years of dedicated Application Security experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud-native application security.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, threat modeling, and secure SDLC frameworks.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale security initiatives and remediation programs.
