Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groups – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals for their own use.

Job Summary:

The CAD Technician will be responsible for owning and maintaining drawings for tooling and parts in our extrusion process. They will also support other departments by creating 3D models to aid in cost reduction strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Create, modify, analyze, and maintain 2D/3D drawings using PTC Creo & SolidWorks.
  2. Collaborate with engineering teams to understand project specifications and provide design solutions.
  3. Ensure all designs meet required safety standards and protocols.
  4. Assist in cost reduction efforts through efficient design strategies.
  5. Provide technical guidance related to CAD software to other departments as needed.
  6. Communicate with Tooling, Engineering, and Maintenance teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Operations, Mechatronics, or related field with knowledge of 2D-3D drawing.
  2. 2-3 years of experience working with PTC Creo / SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Intellicad, Pro-E within an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred.
  3. Ability to read blueprints and/or drawings.
  4. Experience in roles that lead to a better understanding of equipment and processes.
  5. Intermediate English fluency for daily communication.
  6. Experience leading and inspiring engineering teams (helpful for leading and developing 4 to 5 junior engineers).
  7. Knowledge of measurement devices and tools (calipers, gauges, etc.).
Nice to Have:
  1. B.S. in a technical field.
  2. Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification.
  3. PEx tools experience.
  4. Previous leadership opportunities.
