GE Aerospace is seeking a student intern to support a broad range of technical projects in the Turbomachinery area. You will collaborate with engineers to solve challenges on industrial platforms, learning the physics behind air starters while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a BS program in Mechanical/Mechatronics, with 30–40 hours available weekly, and possessing basic turbomachinery knowledge and programming skills in C#/Python.

Formación

  • Actively enrolled in university with at least 1 year left before graduation.
  • Undergraduate in Mechanical/Mechatronics or similar field.
  • Available 30–40 hours per week.
  • Basic knowledge of Turbomachinery and Rotating machinery.
  • Mechanical analysis skills and programming proficiency.
  • Proficient in English communications.

Responsabilidades

  • Provide technical assistance to engineers on various legacy programs.
  • Document data to support analytical results per policies.
  • Perform Finite Element analyses of air starters under guidance.
  • Understand air starters concepts to aid optimization and cost reduction.
  • Prepare presentations and documentation for technical discussions.
  • Analyze test data and derive engineering recommendations.

Job Description Summary

Job Description Job description summary: Provide support on a broad range of technical projects within the TDI Air Starters Team. In this role, you will interact with a group of engineers with sound technical expertise in the area of Turbomachinery to solve some of the challenges that are present in our industrial commercial platforms.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to other engineers assigned to support different legacy programs.
  • Document technical data generated to substantiate the analytical results consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Execute with extensive guidance Finite Element structural analyses of air starters meeting business standards, practices, and program requirements.
  • Get a full understanding of the air starters and the physics behind them, as you might be part of an effort to optimize the product through continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
  • Participate as presenter of project status
  • Solve problems of limited scope and complexity regarding product performance and definition of different air starters families.
  • Analyze test data and reach conclusions and engineering recommendations.
  • Prepare engineering changes, presentations, and technical documentation to support technical discussions.
  • Ensure full compliance with business standards, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Must be actively enrolled in a university within a minimum period of 1 year of remaining classes before graduating.
  • BS Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering student or similar background
  • 30 to 40 available hours per week
  • Basic knowledge of Turbomachinery and Rotating machinery.
  • Mechanical analysis skills.
  • Programming skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of the design, test and analysis tools relevant to the function.
  • Proficiency in English language communication
Desired Characteristics
  • Knowledgeable in NX Unigraphics, ANSYS, or similar design software
  • Knowledgeable in Electrical Machines
  • Knowledgeable in Rotating Machinery and Turbomachinery
  • Knowledge in, C Sharp, Python coding v3 or superior
