Job summary

Autoliv in Mexico is seeking an Engineering Prototyping Support to prepare, build, validate, and manage prototype products in line with customer specs and quality standards. This role requires hands-on work with sewing, laser, and assembly equipment, and close attention to traceability and delivery timelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years in manufacturing or prototype environments.
• Hands-on experience with automatic and manual sewing machines, laser cutting equipment, and assembly machinery.
• Ability to read technical drawings, follow instructions, and ensure traceability and quality compliance.
• Proficiency with measuring tools and forklift operation.
• Familiar with DraftSight, PLM, ERP, GEO, PRISIM, and HMI software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble, validate, and control prototype products according to drawings, EBOMs, and customer requirements.
• Generate and manage technical documentation, templates, labels, and production records with full traceability.
• Operate and support laser systems, sewing machines, and assembly equipment, including setups and changeovers.
• Validate materials, first-piece production, and prototype builds through inspections and documentation reviews.
• Support prototype logistics and continuous improvement by managing material flow, inventory, shipping prep, deviation reporting, and root-cause analysis.

Job description

In this role you will beresponsible for preparing, building, validating, and managing prototype products while ensuring full compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, traceability requirements, and delivery timelines. Leveraging specialized equipment, manufacturing systems, and technical documentation, you will support prototype development activities, maintain accurate records, and drive the successful execution of prototype builds from initial planning through final delivery.

Should you be interested in overseeing these tasks and aiming for enhanced performance standards, your role will involve:

• Prepare, assemble, validate, and control prototype products in accordance with engineering drawings, EBOMs, work instructions, customer requirements, and quality standards.
• Generate and manage technical documentation, templates, labels, and production records while ensuring complete product traceability through manufacturing and logistics systems.
• Operate and support specialized manufacturing equipment, including laser systems, automatic sewing machines, and assembly machinery, performing setups, changeovers, and tooling adaptations as required.
• Validate materials, first-piece production, and prototype builds through inspections, measurements, documentation reviews, and compliance with critical and significant product characteristics.
• Support prototype logistics and continuous improvement activities by managing material flow, inventory control, shipping preparation, deviation reporting, root cause analysis, and process enhancement initiatives.

If You Have/are

• High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, prototype development, or process-related environments.
• Hands‑on experience operating automatic and manual sewing machines, laser cutting equipment, and automated or semi-automated assembly machinery.
• Proficiency in the use of measuring instrument, hand tools, and material handling equipment, including forklifts.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and product lifecycle systems, including DraftSight, PLM, ERP, GEO, PRISIM, and HMI software applications.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical drawings, follow work instructions, maintain traceability, and ensure compliance with quality and customer requirements.
