A leading technology firm is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee a distributed team of engineers. You'll be pivotal in fostering a collaborative environment, ensuring the success of MLOps solutions, and improving software quality. The ideal candidate has strong Python development skills, a background in machine learning, and experience in open-source contexts. This position is remote, allowing global collaboration and occasional travels to meet the team.
The role of an Engineering Manager at Canonical combines technical leadership with people management. You will run an effective team, develop colleagues, review code as a leader, and keep the team focused, productive, and unblocked to improve the product.
You are expected to help engineers grow, do meaningful work, achieve high quality outcomes, and collaborate well with colleagues and the community. You will influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and regularly reflect with your team on strategy and execution. You will collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to produce an engineering roadmap with ambitious yet achievable goals. You should be fluent in the programming language, architecture, and components used by your team, including open-source machine learning tools like Kubeflow, MLFlow, and Feast. Code reviews and architectural leadership are part of the role, with a commitment to healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality and performance optimization, fair and clear management, and a high-performing team.
