Descripción del empleo

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Manager for a temporary position to lead and oversee construction activities for the La Paz Pichilingue operations in Mexico. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of construction tasks at our power generation facility, including installations, overhead power line integrations, and electrical infrastructure development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical high-voltage power projects, with expertise in managing contractor teams in challenging environments. You will coordinate with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external partners to deliver high-quality results while adhering to safety, environmental, and budgetary standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities for the Phase 2 power project, including transformer installation, electrical switchgear, overhead power lines, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Manage on-site contractor teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with project timelines, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Oversee safety protocols, risk assessments, and incident management to maintain a zero-harm work environment in line with OSHA, Mexican regulatory requirements (e.g., SEMARNAT, ASEA), and NFE’s HSE policies.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to resolve technical issues, optimize resource allocation, and mitigate project delays.
  • Monitor project budgets, track progress through KPIs, and prepare regular reports on construction milestones, costs, and variances.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communications, including with CFE partners, local authorities, and community representatives, to ensure smooth project integration.
  • Conduct site inspections, quality audits, and commissioning activities to verify compliance with design and operational standards.
  • Implement change management processes for scope adjustments, ensuring minimal impact on project delivery.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies in construction methods and incorporating lessons learned from previous phases.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management within the power infrastructure or energy sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale, contractor-led projects, preferably in Mexico or Latin America.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican labor laws, environmental regulations, and international standards (e.g., API, ASME).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal) is required.
Required Skills
  • Expertise in project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction software (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM).
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with experience in multicultural and remote work settings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations and adapt to dynamic project conditions.
  • Proficiency in risk management, contract negotiation, and cost control.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and ethical practices.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with state-owned utilities like CFE and navigating cross-border energy partnerships.
