Responsibilities

Job purpose:

Coordinate environmental activities and support safety and hygiene across plant areas. This role involves analyzing environmental aspects, advising on proper waste disposal, managing hazardous waste, implementing energy reduction strategies, and reducing the site's carbon footprint. The goal is to promote a culture of sustainability and zero harm, ensuring compliance with government and other environmental, safety, and hygiene requirements.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Manage resources and monitor environmental performance; prepare and respond to environmental emergencies.
  2. Identify training needs related to environmental management; collaborate with HR to coordinate training and awareness activities to foster an environmental culture.
  3. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; manage government procedures; report changes in regulations, environmental aspects, and risks to develop appropriate actions.
  4. Review and update environmental aspects and impacts with area managers; conduct tours for identification of improvements; establish monitoring, reporting, and root cause analysis procedures.
  5. Enhance product value by obtaining environmental certifications and applying improvement standards to reduce costs.
  6. Implement and monitor social and environmental sustainability projects across departments.
  7. Establish, measure, and ensure compliance with environmental KPIs.
  8. Develop, implement, and audit operational procedures for environmental control.
  9. Promote accident prevention and safe work behaviors; conduct risk analyses.
  10. Handle audits and inspections; update relevant documentation such as manuals, procedures, and work instructions to maintain the Quality Management System.
Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or similar.
  • At least 4 years of verifiable experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in English at level B2; C1 preferred.
  • Knowledge of Official Mexican Standards.
  • Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations.
  • Experience managing emergency response units.
  • ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor certification is highly valued.
  • Ability to prepare security risk analyses.
  • Expertise in accident investigation.
  • Experience managing continuous improvement projects.
