Overview:

In the context of the Tren Maya project, ALSTOM is offering a high level of Maintenance Service for the Rolling Stock, Track systems (Signaling & Communication), and Maintenance facilities.

The Train System Engineer is responsible for leading technical activities related to the Rolling Stock within this service scope, especially:

  1. Permanent monitoring of train performances to meet targets and improve them, focusing on:
  • Safety
  • Availability (support to Fleet management)
  • Reliability (service failures vs contractual targets, intrinsic performance of trains and components)
  • Preferred interface with Alstom Design Authority teams and suppliers on technical matters.
  • Contributing to the reliability growth process, and possibly leading it if scope is transferred from Design Authority, ensuring contractual objectives are met at the end of warranty.
  • Contributing to the engineering change process, proposing and validating changes impacting train performance, and participating in the Change Control Board (CCB).
  • Providing guidance and technical support to troubleshooters and Fleet Support Engineers for investigations, failure resolution, and diagnostics.
  • Engaging regularly with the customer regarding train performance and technical issues, including reliability results and action plans.
  • The Train System Engineer may have dedicated System Engineers reporting directly to him/her.
  • Organization:

    Reports directly to: Project Maintenance Manager

    Functionally reports to: Services Mexico Engineering Manager

    Direct reports: 2 to 5 Train System Engineers

    Responsibilities:

    Performance Metrics:

    • Contractual trainset performance
    • Adherence to requirements and deliverables baseline
    • Progress on open points (TS Dashboard)
    • On-time delivery, failure analysis, reports, and specifications

    Technical Missions:

    Accountable for:

    • Sustaining train performance, detecting deviations, proposing solutions
    • Developing requirements for redesigns/engineering changes, ensuring subsystem compatibility and configuration consistency
    • Operational and functional analysis when needed
    • Managing train configuration

    Responsible for:

    • Technical interfaces with other units, suppliers, and customers
    • Technical reports on service-impacting failures
    • Contributing to arbitration during redesigns/engineering changes to optimize performance and train operation

    During revenue service:

    Accountable for:

    • Resolving technical issues, from investigation to implementation, and closing problems
    • Providing feedback for reference solutions and contributing to the RoE committee and documentation updates

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Mandatory:
    • Over 5 years of experience in Rolling Stock engineering, including warranty phase (design, warranty, or maintenance)
    • Experience in team management is preferred
    • Technical Skills:
    • Customer focus and management skills
    • Ability to persuade, switch problem perspectives, challenge, and be challenged
    • Coordination, leadership, and team spirit
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willingness to travel
    • Education:

    Engineer degree or Master of Engineering from a university or engineering school

    • Language skills:

    Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish

    • Travel:

    Frequent travel within Yucatán peninsula and occasionally to other Alstom units and suppliers worldwide
