Position Summary

The Raw Material Buyer is responsible for the timely and accurate procurement of raw materials to support production schedules, ensuring alignment with quality standards, inventory levels, and company policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication with internal departments and suppliers, and proactive problem-solving to guarantee material availability and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication and relationships with suppliers.
• Monitor purchasing system to ensure timely procurement of raw materials.
• Verify accuracy of quantities and item numbers for all deliveries.
• Prepare and analyze purchase reports.
• Inspect and confirm that materials received from the Douglas warehouse match system records.
• Ensure data accuracy in the purchasing system.
• Identify and prevent potential operational risks.
• Monitor system to ensure no negative inventory balances.
• Recommend and implement system improvements.
• Follow up on shortages and coordinate with the warehouse to ensure proper stock levels.
• Promote clear and consistent communication across departments.
• Ensure compliance with work instructions and quality processes.
• Monitor and address non-conformities in raw material supply.
• Identify and develop alternative sources for raw materials as needed.
• Confirm that received materials are in acceptable condition.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas.
• Coordinate with departments to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Conduct supplier performance evaluations and provide feedback.
• Develop and execute corrective action plans when needed.
• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal quality and environmental standards.
• Support environmental management by identifying operational aspects and contributing to objectives and targets.
• Ensure purchases are made only from approved and original suppliers.
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar purchasing role.
• Experience in supplier relationship management and cross-functional teamwork.
  
  

Languages

• Advanced English (written and spoken).
  
  

Technical Knowledge

• APICS (knowledge of supply chain principles).
• Oracle ERP systems.
• Microsoft D365
• Understanding of AS5553 standards.
