Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and motivate a diverse team of transportation professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

3. Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to capture transportation requirements accurately.
4. Ensure timely order entry and alignment with delivery schedules.
5. Develop efficient shipment plans considering load capacity, delivery windows, and carrier availability.
6. Optimize routes to minimize costs and maximize service levels.
7. Design transportation programs (e.g., dedicated routes, intermodal solutions) to meet customer needs and evaluate their effectiveness.
8. Manage bid processes for transportation contracts and negotiate rates with carriers to achieve cost savings.
9. Oversee day-to-day transportation activities, track shipments in real-time using TMS, and address issues promptly.
10. Coordinate with drivers and carriers to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries, implementing real-time tracking systems.
11. Provide updates to stakeholders, address delays proactively, and ensure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
12. Handle exceptions such as missed deliveries or damaged goods effectively.
13. Audit freight payments, verify carrier invoices for accuracy, and analyze transportation costs to identify savings.
14. Collaborate with finance to optimize budget allocation, evaluate carrier performance, and negotiate contracts.
15. Assess the impact of transportation initiatives on overall business performance, measure KPIs, and report to management.

Technology Utilization

Utilize advanced TMS (e.g., SAP and proprietary software) to streamline processes, track shipments, and analyze data. Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation in transportation logistics.

Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with international transportation regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards. Mitigate transportation risks through proactive planning and stakeholder communication.

Vendor and Partner Relations

Manage relationships with transportation providers, carriers, and 3PL partners to negotiate contracts, resolve issues, and optimize service levels.
