About the Job

Role Objective

The Jewelry Purchasing Manager is responsible for achieving the commercial goals of various jewelry categories (high jewelry, fashion, fine, costume, and concessions) through strategic buying, negotiations with top-tier national and international brands, and effective operational management across all channels: El Palacio de Hierro stores, e-commerce, and stand-alone boutiques.

This role carries direct financial responsibility over sales, OTB, inventory, and department profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze market trends, customer profiles, and sales history to recommend optimal brand mix and assortment.
  • Identify niches and new opportunities through trend research, trade shows, and national/international scouting trips.
  • Negotiate in English with luxury brands and strategic vendors to secure competitive commercial terms, space, margins, and exclusivities.
  • Curate and select product by category (high, fine, costume, etc.) to build a well-balanced assortment pyramid.
  • Develop and track the biannual buying plan aligned with budget and commercial calendar.
  • Design and coordinate the commercial plan, promotions, product onboarding, activations, and line reviews.
  • Monitor KPIs such as margin, sell-through, profitability, and revenue per square meter.
  • Manage replenishment orders for core and fashion items, ensuring timely supply across all channels and stores.
  • Conduct regular store visits to ensure proper execution of visual merchandising, planograms, and customer experience.
  • Lead the team through coaching, performance tracking, and development plans.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key departments: Marketing, Operations, Credit, and Visual Merchandising.
  • Drive non-organic growth projects with an agile mindset, out-of-the-box proposals, and strong results orientation.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Gross Margin: Achieve or exceed negotiated margins with each brand.
  • Inventory Turnover: Maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding buildup or obsolescence.
  • Profitability per Square Meter: Maximize profit generated per allocated space.
  • Additional indicators include: total and channel-specific sales, inventory value and turnover, gross profit, delivery plan compliance, and e-commerce performance.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related fields.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years as a senior buyer in retail (preferably in luxury or jewelry), or in premium hospitality with a strong financial focus. Experience with top-tier international brands is essential to be considered.
  • Language: Advanced English is mandatory.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with SAP (preferred), planning tools such as OTB, Option Framework, F&R, and Allocation. Advanced Excel, financial analysis, product profitability. Negotiation training or certifications are a plus.
