Job Summary

This fast-scaling creative agency, now over 80 strong in just four years, is seeking a Director of Finance to guide us through our next phase of growth, scaling from 100 to 200 team members. As we accelerate into this transformative period, you’ll take the lead in driving rapid revenue and profit growth, while seamlessly integrating our financial systems with those of Stagwell, our new parent company.

The ideal candidate will thrive in the dynamic environment of a founder-led boutique agency, while adeptly navigating the complexities of a publicly traded corporation. This executive will lead by example, building and guiding a high-performing team. As our financial storyteller, you’ll work closely with co-founders, the executive team, finance team, and leaders across the company to shape our financial future.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the CEO's and co-founders' vision into reality.

  • Evolve the operating system of the agency to support scale.

  • Run agency operations, including PMO, resourcing, processes, and systems.

  • Lead all internal operations teams including Finance, HR, IT, Legal.

  • Own agency financial health, including pricing, forecasting, and margin optimization.

  • Cultivate our unique culture while ensuring strong alignment, joy, and performance.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Financial Business Leadership

    • Oversee the company’s finance operations, including accounting, client finance, and FP&A.

    • Advise the executive team by linking financial data and insights to business strategies.

    • Monitor owner earn-out goals and ensure they are met.

    • Work with HR to approve full-time hires and freelance contractors.

    • Support new business initiatives and RFPs, including developing rate cards and assessing profitability.

    • Lead evaluations for investments and business expansions.

    • Make key decisions in the financial decision-making process.

    Client Finance and FP&A

    • Ensure MSAs and SOWs are compliant and lead negotiations with client procurement teams.

    • Manage intercompany agreements with sister agencies.

    • Oversee revenue management and forecasting activities.

    • Ensure accurate month-end revenue reporting.

    • Analyze client profitability and monitor cost vs. profit.

    Accounting

    • Manage treasury functions, including Stagwell cash forecasts.

    • Review month-end financials, including trial balance, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

    • Oversee quarter-end reporting and analytics.

    • Ensure SOX compliance and update financial process controls as needed.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of agency finance and accounting experience.

  • Experience working for and reporting to a public holding company.

  • Positive, nurturing, collaborative and decisive leader, aligned with our mission to spread joy.

  • Past experiences negotiating client pricing, contracts, and terms for a creative agency in the 50-150 person range.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence at multiple levels within an organization.
