Amazon is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr. Solutions Design Engineer. This individual will analyze and challenge current processes, equipment, and procedures within our European fulfillment network to develop creative and implementable process improvement initiatives. Additionally, they will design and develop layouts for new and existing fulfillment centers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing high-performance physical systems, excellent technical problem-solving skills, and robust project management abilities. They should be motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment. The Solutions Design Engineer should be a proactive self-starter capable of driving projects and coordinating with various teams and stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Key job responsibilities

1. Own the design and development of engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges, considering human/equipment interactions within the European fulfillment network.
2. Lead and coordinate concept and design efforts for optimal solutions across the Mexico and Brazil fulfillment networks, including equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations, and site layout.
3. Collaborate closely with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to develop innovative solutions.
4. Manage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously, influencing and negotiating with internal and external partners, contractors, and vendors.
5. Conduct post-implementation reviews with Safety and Operations teams.
6. Work with the Fulfillment Center startup and launch teams to ensure detailed planning, documentation, and change management using layouts, modules, or Standard Operating Procedures.
7. Develop and update design standards in collaboration with global design teams.
8. Build strong relationships with key partners such as Startup, Launch, Worldwide Design, Procurement, IT, Loss Prevention, Facilities, Safety, Change Management, and EU Operations.
9. Travel up to 50% to engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as an industrial, operations, manufacturing, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience working with Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• Fluent in Spanish and English (C1+ level).
• Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL.
• Experience managing third-party vendors.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu languages.
