Purpose
The Parts Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing, coordinating, and supporting Parts dept. programs for inbound transportation, carrier chargeback/claims, parts import activities including, but not limited to, processing of import shipment documentation, bill of lading instructions, transportation details, invoices and customer inquiries.
Tasks
- Work cross-functionally with internal and HQ to coordinate supply chain strategies to improve inventory and fill rate.
- Monitor the status of export orders and coordinate with PDCs and internal departments as needed.
- Coordinate booking of ocean and air shipments with freight forwarders and trucking companies.
- Prepare required import documentation, including packing lists, invoices, bills of lading, air waybills, export declarations, certificates of origin, and insurance certificates.
- Expedite back orders and stock orders as necessary to satisfy customer expectations and on time delivery targets.
- Create reports to monitor and control all aspects of the supply chain, including logistics cost, service standards, and transport plans.
- Coordinates and tracks the transfer of material from different customs to the Parts Distribution Center (PDC), to ensure smooth internal operations / foreign trade.
- Submitting shipping information and import documentation to custom brokers to ensure customs clearance based on the procedures of AEO and necessary customs procedures (NOMs, tariff rates, technical specs, etc.).
- Create KPI´s to monitor and control all aspects of the supply chain, including logistics cost, service standards, and transport plans.
Knowledge of:
- Spare parts Logistics
- Impo/Expo operation
- Supply chain, including logistics cost, service standards, and international transport knowledge.
- Knowledge in customs procedures, import and export, (NOMs, tariff rates, technical specs, etc.).
Skills:
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communications skills in English (listening, writing, speaking, and reading).
- High level of reporting skills
- An entrepreneurial “can do” attitude facilitated by continuous improvement and application of appropriate “best practices”.
Experience / Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Logistics, business administration, or equivalent
- SAP, WMS and MS products (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- 3+ years of experience in automotive parts/customer service, freight forwarding, and forecasting/procurement.
- Experience in the Automotive industry, procurement, importation, logistics areas is required (OEM's & Tier 1)
