Job Description

This role operates within established guidelines, with support from higher-level colleagues as needed. As a Leave Specialist within GBS People Services, you will handle administrative tasks related to employee leaves of absence, primarily in the US, including project research under supervision. Your main focus will be federal, state, and company leave administration for US employees.

Accountabilities
  1. Employee Support: Guide employees and managers through the leave process, providing assistance and clarification.
  2. Data Management: Maintain and update leave records and timesheets in Workday for all employees.
  3. Escalation Management: Serve as a point of escalation for complex leave issues.
  4. Liaison Duties: Collaborate with leave and disability vendors to resolve employee leave cases.
  5. Policy Expertise: Understand federal FMLA, state, and local leave laws; explain policies to employees and managers.
  6. Audit Conduct: Verify return-to-work details, leave exhaustion, and related employment actions.
  7. Teamwork: Work closely with payroll and HR teams to address leave queries.
  8. Informational Requests: Respond to ad hoc information requests from internal and external sources.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1-2 years in leave of absence administration, preferably in an outsourced setting.
  • HR Experience: 2-4 years in Human Resources.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in web-based software and Microsoft Office.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous with a focus on customer service.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of Workday and ServiceNow is preferred.
