The Materials Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, and supplies to support manufacturing and operational requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring timely deliveries, and building strong relationships with suppliers.
· Source and procure materials, components, and supplies in accordance with company specifications, quality standards, and lead time requirements
· Obtain and evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers
· Monitor order status to ensure on-time delivery and follow up on delayed or incomplete shipments
· Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, delivery dates, and inventory levels in the ERP system
· Collaborate with production planning, engineering, and inventory control teams to ensure materials availability
· Identify and develop new suppliers to improve cost, quality, and reliability
· Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, or delivery in a timely and effective manner
· Support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain
· Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies and applicable regulatory requirements
· Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to purchasing, cost savings, and supplier performance
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment
· Strong negotiation and communication skills
· Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, COMPAQ, or similar)
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
· Knowledge of inventory management, supplier development, and cost analysis
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
· Bilingual in English and Spanish
