Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

Our team is looking for a talented and inquisitive lab engineer to develop, support, and maintain our device farm lab located in Mexico City. You will work directly with development teams, test automation engineers, and peer QA teams to iteratively improve our software development process. You will be responsible for maintaining various aspects of the device lab, supporting spaces and equipment resources, including hardware and software, and updating all lab infrastructure, equipment, and software configurations.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Support operations of the team for a set of testing activities performed in the laboratory.
  2. Troubleshoot and fix issues related to test-beds, lab infrastructure, and network.
  3. Automate and simplify laboratory processes to increase efficiency.
  4. Support engineering teams to solve problems connected to testing activities in the laboratory.
  5. Create and maintain lab work instructions, test procedures, and inventory.
  6. Understand customer use cases and requirements and implement them into our lab infrastructure.
  7. Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automation and configuration scripts.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 2-year technical degree (preferably Engineering or Telecommunications) or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of related experience as a Lab Engineer, System Administrator, QA Engineer, or Support Engineer.
  • Experience planning and maintaining lab facilities for optimal efficiency and creating new processes when necessary.
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems (Mac, Windows, and Linux), PCs, and peripherals.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting desktop and/or mobile systems.
  • Knowledge of computer networks and WiFi.
  • Experience troubleshooting Wi-Fi, switches, and routers.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety rules in laboratory environments.
  • Basic scripting experience with Bash and/or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with other programming languages such as Java or modern languages.
  • Proficiency in networking and WiFi concepts.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD build automation environments.
  • Previous roles in QA or QA Automation.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
