Dyno Nobel is a subsidiary of Australian-based Incitec Pivot Limited, which employs approximately 4,500 employees. IPL also manufactures and markets industrial chemicals and fertilizer products and services worldwide.

What You’ll Do

As the Corporate Counsel, you will proactively assist with the assessment and management of the legal affairs of Dyno Nobel Mexico, primarily focusing on labor, employment, and governance matters. The role involves supporting all legal matters across Dyno Nobel Mexico and assisting with South American issues. You will provide strong leadership and counsel to these parts of the business. Other duties include:

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable IPL standards, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting (and leading when necessary) interactions and negotiations with labor unions, including CBA negotiations, employee disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Assisting with management of regulatory claims, proceedings, and investigations, utilizing internal resources and external counsel efficiently.
  • Participating as a member of the Mexican Leadership Team to provide governance and strategic direction.
  • Providing training to employees about IPL’s governance standards, policies, and programs, and working with finance to ensure compliance.
  • Providing legal support for various projects as needed.
  • Responding professionally and promptly to legal and business requests and issues.
  • Exercising good judgment to make clear, rational, and timely decisions in the best interests of Dyno Nobel, consistent with laws and regulations.
  • Gathering and analyzing facts to make sound business judgments.
  • Maintaining a strong work ethic, high standards of service, responsiveness, efficiency, and professionalism.
What We’re Looking For
  • A law degree from an accredited university.
  • Current licenses and permissions to practice law.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience, including corporate governance and labor/employment law.
  • Preferably experience with governance in publicly-listed companies.
  • Experience working with labor unions.
  • Ability to work flexibly, efficiently, enthusiastically, and diplomatically both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • A positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team-oriented approach.
