We are hiring an Engineering Manager.


This role offers an opportunity for a technologist passionate about Linux and Cloud technologies to build a career with Canonical and drive success for those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. If you have an affinity for open source development and a passion for technology, you'll enjoy working with some of the best people in the industry at Canonical.


The BootStack team designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers. From Kubernetes to OpenStack and everything in-between, you'll work with the latest technology in a fast-paced engineering environment. As a Cloud Engineering Manager for the BootStack team, you will manage engineers overseeing day-to-day managed service operations of customer environments, including customer service management, managed services operations, and product improvement engineering. Collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations is critical to success.


Location: This is a globally remote role.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a growing engineering team to optimize the quality and velocity of development and operations.
  2. Identify and measure team health indicators.
  3. Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes.
  4. Represent the BootStack team with respect to stakeholders, customers, and external teams.
  5. Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
  6. Work to meet service level agreements with global customer deployments.
  7. Deliver quality managed services in a consistent, timely manner.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's (or equivalent) education in a technology field.
  2. Proven experience in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or managing operations teams.
  3. Experience with OpenStack.
  4. Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
  5. Experience with Linux system administration, Ubuntu/Debian preferred.
  6. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Experience with agile methodologies.
  8. Experience managing distributed teams.
  9. Technical understanding of complex distributed systems.
  10. Knowledge of cloud topologies and technologies.
  11. Willingness to travel approximately 20% for team and customer meetings.
