What The Candidate Will Do
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team while designing, executing, and reporting on standard work processes to ensure transportation solutions are maintained for accuracy and efficiency. This Operations Manager is a working manager, approximately 30% production work and 70% management. The team is responsible for for on-time delivery of customer freight while controlling costs and providing excellent customer communication. The idea candidate can use statistical data to drive efficiency as well as use root cause analysis tools to improve business processes and exceed customer expectations.
Essential Functions And Tasks
- Exhibits a high proficiency in problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills, providing robust support to the assigned team.
- Maintains a high level of commitment to goal-oriented strategies, particularly in the realms of business growth and performance metrics.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of team members
- Ensure team members meet daily goals and monitor individual and team performance
- Strong emphasis on high-quality team member development, ensuring continuous professional growth and advancement.
- Develop, implement and maintain effective processes
- Data analysis and strategic planning for the designated business unit, demonstrating advanced competencies in these critical areas.
- Engagement in identifying, creating, and implementing new business opportunities, reflecting a proactive and forward-thinking approach
- Develop strong relationships across organization
- Develop team members by providing training opportunities, projects, mentoring and coaching
- Create and maintain strong team culture in line with Uber Freight values and behaviors
Basic Qualifications
- Proficient English communication skills - written and verbal
- 3+ years of logistics experience with increasing level of responsibility
- 3+ years of experience in operations, project management, or related managerial roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in overseeing day-to-day operations and managing teams.
- Previous experience in improving operational efficiencies, cost management, and process optimization.
- Strong people management and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with performance management, employee development, and conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage budgets, and oversee cross-functional teams.
- Strong ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
- Problem-solving skills to identify operational inefficiencies and propose solutions.
- Critical thinking to address challenges and manage risks.
- Strong negotiation skills when working with vendors, suppliers, or partners
- Basic understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Ability to manage operational expenses and optimize resource allocation.
- Strong decision-making skills, especially under pressure or in ambiguous situations.
- Experience with automation or process improvement tools is a plus.
- Excellent people skills, communication, and organizational skills.
