Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide project guide, leadership, and PQA expertise for multiple PQA project deployments or PQA initiatives to help the Engineering groups and the plant engineers understand how to complete analysis on processes and how to use PQA tools to execute on short- and long-term improvements plans.
  • Drive effort to obtain certifications for all key processes, drive effectiveness and support cost of quality optimization through determinations regarding methods, equipment, layout, workflow, process improvements, statistical methods, and process control systems. Coordinate PQA teams and track the projects or initiatives progress.
  • Support Cost of Quality Program in order to execute Division Quality Strategy in delivering Cost of Quality optimization/reduction. Work with Engineering Groups to promote moving from reactive to proactive quality.
  • Function as a subject matter expert in PQA tools, root cause understanding, process performance, CTQ/KPOV Operational Definitions, Built In Quality Control Plans system analysis of quality architecture and process control systems ensuring the manufacturing products and processes meet all quality specifications.
  • Provide informal coaching and mentoring to engineering project leads and their teams during all phases of project implementations, deliver formal product quality architecture (PQA) instructions to departments and teams.
  • Provide recommendations for quality assurance tests, inspection procedures frequency and requirements, and measurement precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Contribute and participate in PQA process certifications, process prior and post audit and if necessary to lead critical projects.
  • Identify best practices in PQA/CoQ optimization effort and facilitate best practice sharing, lead “Corrective Action Requests” to ensure sustainability process is followed rigorously in solutions for all OCS locations in region.
  • Database monitoring and maintenance to ensure performance data accuracy for PQA process certifications sustainment.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline, Master’s degree a plus.
  • 5 years required, 3 years desired of experience as Engineer in Quality, Process, Production, Technology or Product Engineering in a multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control or/and Quality Control & Risk Assessment.
  • DMAIC Green Belt certified, DMAIC Black Belt certification desired, PQA experience a plus.
Experiences
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing Process Control (Error-Proofing method application and Statistical Process Control with experience applying concepts such as Process Capability and Measurement System Analysis demonstrated by tracking of Quality records and Process improvement projects using Six Sigma, DMAIC, PQA or equivalent process improvement methodology; Customer complaint resolution a plus; Quality Management Systems utilization a plus, etc.).
  • Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, MS Word, MS Sharepoint, Visual Basic a plus), knowledge of Minitab or equivalent statistical software required, Intermediate or advanced knowledge on MS Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Experience in developing SQL databases and establishing connections with various systems such as SAP, Camstar and other Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in a team environment and motivate others, while being capable of working independently in a dynamic, business/manufacturing environment.
