Description

Sr. Solutions Design Engineer

Amazon has developed one of the most sophisticated supply chains globally, pioneering innovations from Amazon Prime to advanced package delivery technologies. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr. Solutions Design Engineer to analyze and improve current processes, equipment, and procedures within our European fulfillment network, and to design layouts for new and existing fulfillment centers.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background in developing high-performance physical systems, strong technical problem-solving skills, excellent project management abilities, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment. Key Job Responsibilities

1. Design and develop engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges, focusing on human/equipment interactions within the European fulfillment network.
2. Lead concept and design efforts for the Mexico & Brazil fulfillment networks, including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations, and site layout.
3. Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to create innovative solutions.
4. Manage multiple high-visibility projects, influencing and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Conduct post-implementation reviews in partnership with Safety and Operations teams.
6. Work with Fulfillment Center start-up and launch teams to ensure detailed planning and documentation, including layouts, modules, SOPs, and change control.
7. Develop and update design standards in collaboration with global design teams.
8. Build strong relationships with key partners such as Start-up, Launch, Design, Procurement, IT, Loss Prevention, Facilities, Safety, Change Management, and EU Operations.
9. Travel up to 50% to engage with internal and external business and technical leaders.

Basic Qualifications

1. 7+ years managing multiple large projects.
2. Bachelor's degree.
3. Strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment.
4. Experience in Logistics, Distribution, or Fulfillment processes.
5. Fluent in Spanish and English (C+1).

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or related STEM field.
2. Experience with Lean Management, Six Sigma, and other operations engineering tools.
3. Knowledge of additional languages such as Portuguese, German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu.
