Flex is seeking a Sr Director, Operations Engineering in Guadalajara North, Campus to guide the strategic roadmap for Advanced Assembly, SMT manufacturing and next‑generation technologies, aligning new product introductions with scalable processes.

You will lead a high‑performing team, drive manufacturing process development, ensure on‑time delivery within budget, and mentor staff while maintaining industry leadership through hands‑on guidance and strategic planning.

Formación

• 10+ years in manufacturing with 7+ years in management roles.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Sr Director, Operations Engineering located in Guadalajara North, Campus. Reporting to the VP, Operations. The Director, Operations Engineering will be responsible for defining and executing the long‑term roadmap and strategic vision for Advanced Assembly, SMT manufacturing, and next‑generation technologies, ensuring scalable industrialization, successful new product introductions, and sustainable operational excellence.

What a typical day looks like:

• Technology process deployment is for all business units and value add services organization.
• Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company’s strategic direction.
• Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of manufacturing process development activities.
• Formulate long‑term objectives and standards of performance for the department.
• Assure that the department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame.
• Be a student of current industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its manufacturing technology leadership position.
• Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands‑on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource/mentor.
• Assure that the manufacturing process is designed for specific needs, but with wider applications/tolerances in mind.
• Hire and direct staff of senior group members to acquire necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments.
• Ensure implementation and refinement as required of formal process to support the product development process.

Required skills

BA/BS/MBA or equivalent work experience. 10+ years in manufacturing, including at least 7 years in management roles. Highly technical background with hands‑on experience leading and operating advanced manufacturing laboratories, including product launches, SMT operations, process characterization, and manufacturing industrialization, in high‑complexity environments. Proven experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), including product and new technology launches, from concept and validation through production ramp‑up. Strong expertise with large, high‑density components, including BGA packages up to 100 × 100, ensuring robust process development, assembly reliability, and product quality.

Nice to have following technical skills

• Related to Data Center/Hyperscale's CEC): Components: ASICs, CPUs, GPUs and complex BGAs, Optical Packages such Co‑package optics (CPOs), Pluggable optics etc.
• PCB: PCB fabrication process and impact of VIPPO, Lamination, etc.
• PCBA: Deeper experience in SMT to Final assembly including Thermal management (Heatsink, TIM, Liquid & Cryo Cooling, Cold Plate.
• Advanced English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Familiarity with managing large teams (DL).
