Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Hermosillo, Sonora seeks a Dimensional Control/Manufacturing Engineer to apply GD&T, verify inspection data, and drive quality improvements across stamping and assembly lines. You will review CAD models, develop control plans, and lead root-cause analyses to ensure data integrity and process capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Industrial/Mechanical/Mechatronics)
  • 2+ years in automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to work any shift including rotating weekends
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Capable of directing unionized hourly workforce and enforcing safety, quality, and throughput standards
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Proficient in GD&T, dimensional inspection methods, and data analysis
  • Experience with Scan Box, 3D scanning systems, Laser Gauge, CM4D, SPC, MSA, and root-cause methodologies
  • Ability to lead teams and conduct problem-solving meetings
  • Strong communication and cross-functional presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance principles to parts and assemblies
  • Interpret inspection data and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure gauge calibrations and repeatability/reproducibility
  • Verify tolerance and engineering specifications
  • Coordinate with Layout Inspectors and Data collectors for data integrity
  • Review dimensional inspection reports for accuracy and compliance
  • Review CAD models and prints to understand geometry and nominal environment
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve processes and control plans
  • Lead process audits to ensure discipline aligns with Vehicle Operations guidelines
  • Oversee the dimensional control group activities within closures manufacturing

What you'll do...

As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. Use company and industry standard processes and tools to plan, design, manage, and utilize gauges for measurement of components and assemblies.

In this position...
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance principles
  • Interpret data from inspection equipment and recommend responses
  • Ensure gauge calibrations; certification; and repeatability and reproducibility
  • Verify tolerance/engineering specifications
  • Work with Layout Inspectors and Data collectors for accurate Scan box, scanning programs and handheld device measurements to ensure data integrity
  • Review dimensional inspection reports (Scan box, laser gauge, etc.) for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review CAD models and prints to understand part geometry and nominal environment.
  • Complete implementation and validation of corrective actions
  • Develop dimensional/product/process control plans
  • Define and conduct machine process capability analysis
  • Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices,
  • Control the critical inputs to the production process. Including dimensional and surface Quality from stamping.
  • Support of daily production & maintenance, working closely with production team to drive all engineering actions across the machining/assembly line
  • Responsible for tool & die Maintenance & performance.
  • Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis
  • Supervise the activities of the dimensional control group within closures Manufacturing
  • Co-lead QCM within sub assembly lines
  • Build Team Leader and Team Member capability
  • Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks
  • Maintain a versatility matrix that ensures technical coverage at all times
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products
  • Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Vehicle Operations guidelines
  • Basic administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents
You'll have...
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering- Industrial, Electrical/Automation, Mechanical, Mechatronics engineering
  • 2 plus years of Experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work any shift as well as rotating shifts and weekends
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Capable of assigning work to unionized hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Strong problem-solving 6 Sixma, 8D and lean tools and
  • Conflict management skills
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection methods
  • Experience consulting and interpreting Scan Box, 3D scanning systems, Laser Gauge, CM4D
  • Knowledge of SPC, MSA, and root cause methodologies
  • Strong ability to lead teams and perform problem solving meetings
  • Strong ability to communicate and present to several layers within the organization.
